He was born in the  Spanish city of Benalmadena, near Malaga, towards  the end of the 12th century. He received his education as a physician in Seville, under the guidance of Abul Abbas Ahmad. He developed a great interest in  botany, which he learned from his teacher, who was  also a botanist. He started collecting plants in and  around Andalusia. In 1219, he left Spain on a plant collecting expedition and travelled along the northern  coast of Africa, as far as Asia Minor. his most remarkable achievements was  the discovery of the anti-cancer effects of the plant named hindiba as having “anti-cancer” properties and which can be  used to treat tumors and neoplastic disorders. After  its usefulness in the treatment of neoplastic disorders  was recognized, Hindiba was patented in 1997 by Nil Sari, Hanzade Dogan, and John K. Snyder. In the year 1224 CE, he entered the service of Malik al-Kamil, the Egyptian ruler, and was appointed chief herbalist.Al-Kamil extended his kingdom to  Damascus, and Ibn al-Baitar accompanied him there,  which provided him with an opportunity to collect  plants in Syria, Palestine, and many parts of Iraq

Caleb Davis Bradham:Pepsi man
invented the soft drink Pepsi-Cola. He was a pharmacist, born in Chinquapin, Duplin County, North Carolina, May 27, 1867. He graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where he was a member of the Philanthropic Society, and attended the University of Maryland School of Medicine. Circa 1890, he dropped out of the University of Maryland School of Medicine, owing to his father's business going bankrupt. After returning to North Carolina, he was a public school teacher for about a year, and soon thereafter opened a drug store in New Bern named the "Bradham Drug Company" that, like many other drug stores of the time, also housed a soda fountain.  Bradham named his drink after a combination of the terms “pepsin” and “cola,” as he believed that his drink aided digestion much like the pepsin enzyme does, even though it was not used as an ingredient. His assistant James Henry King was the first to taste the new drink.

On December 24, 1902, the Pepsi-Cola Company was incorporated in North Carolina, with Bradham as the president, and on June 16, 1903 the first Pepsi-Cola trademark was registered. Also in 1903, he moved his Pepsi-Cola production out of his drug store and into a rented building nearby. In 1905, Bradham began selling Pepsi-Cola in six-ounce bottles (up until this time he sold Pepsi-Cola as a syrup only), and awarded two franchises to North Carolina bottlers.
Ignacy Lukasiewicz:  worlds first oil refinery
Jan Józef Ignacy Lukasiewicz (Polish pronunciation: [wukaˈɕɛvʲitʂ]; 1822–1882) was a Polish pharmacist and petroleum industry pioneer who in 1856 built the first oil refinery in the world..Among his other achievements were the discovery of how to distill kerosene from seep oil, the invention of the modern kerosene lamp (1853), the introduction of the first modern street lamp in Europe (1853), and the construction of the first world modern oil well (1854). Łukasiewicz became a wealthy man and one of the most prominent philanthropists in Galicia. Because of his support for the economical development of the region, a popular saying was coined attributing all paved roads to his guldens. In early 1854 Łukasiewicz moved to Gorlice, where he continued his work. He set up many companies together with entrepreneurs and landowners. That same year, he opened the world's first oil "mine" at Bóbrka, near Krosno (still operational as of 2006). At the same time Łukasiewicz continued his work on kerosene lamps. Later that year he set up the first kerosene street lamp in Gorlice's borough of Zawodzie. In the following years he opened several other oil wells, each of them as a joint-venture with various local merchants and businessmen The refinery was destroyed in a fire in 1859, but was rebuilt in Polanka[disambiguation needed] near Krosno the following year.
John Pemberton
John Stith Pemberton (July 8, 1831 – August 16, 1888) was a Confederate veteran and an American pharmacist, and is best known for being the inventor of Coca-Cola. he became addicted to morphine which he used to ease the pain. He was a pharmacist and as such searched for a cure to counteract this addiction. He began experimenting with coca and coca wines, eventually creating his own version of Vin Mariani, containing kola nut and damiana, which he called Pemberton's French Wine Coca. With public concern about drug addiction, depression and alcoholism among veterans, and "neurasthenia" among "highly-strung" Southern women, his medicinal concoction was advertised as being particularly beneficial for "ladies, and all those whose sedentary employment causes nervous prostration, irregularities of the stomach, bowels and kidneys, who require a nerve tonic and a pure, delightful diffusible stimulant"
